Welcome to my website! This site was designed to provide parents with everyday information about what is going on in my classroom. This site also serves as resource and guide to students about the class or when doing research for a project.
Being in my classroom is an adventure. For the 6th graders, they travel through time to understand what has shaped our world into what we know it today. We not only have fun learning about the various civilizations in history, but students will become investigators of history. 6th Grade students will learn how to interpret texts, artwork, artifacts, and other pieces of evidence in order to better understand how people lived in the past. We call the in depth study of history "historical methods". Learning these methods will help improve reading skills such as comprehension, making inferences, and drawing conclusions based on evidence.
This year I will be teaching a Leadership course that will help students become more comfortable with who they are as well as learn how to become better people and citizens of the community of which they live. This leadership course will be for one quarter and will be a part of the 6th grade specials rotation. I look forward to helping students reach their true potential in and outside of the classroom.
